The Tollemache Arms in Alpraham has officially reopened its doors following an impressive and transformative 8-week refurbishment. Beginning in September, the renovation has breathed new life into the much-loved pub and reopened just in time for the busy festive season.
Pub Partner, Dave, who has been with Robinsons for the past nine years, has truly made the Tollemache his own. Given the building’s age and size, the project was a significant one, but the results speak for themselves: warm, welcoming, stylish, and packed with personality.
To maximise space and create a more open space, several structural elements were removed, enabling a new open-plan layout. This not only improves flow but enhances the atmosphere, now described as very warm and cosy, helped along by the addition of two beautiful log-burning fires.
Inside, the pub has been fully redecorated with premium finishes throughout - every detail crafted to complement the building’s original charm while giving it a fresh look. The Designer commented “It’s always great completing a big project like this when you know how much the Pub Partner lives and breathes the pub. It’s their livelihood, and you want that reflected in every element. And I have to say - the new pool room is definitely up there in my favourites on the estate now!”
The standout centrepiece is the gorgeous new bar, fitted with bespoke shelving that’s intricately backlit to showcase spirits and bottles in style. With clever spatial redesign, the Tollemache Arms can now welcome 110 internal covers, significantly boosting drinking and dining capacity.
Accessibility was integral to the refurbishment. The pub now features two accessible toilets, a new accessible side entrance, dedicated accessible parking bays and a reworked layout that means approximately 70% of the pub is now fully accessible to all guests. These improvements ensure that every visitor can enjoy the Tollemache Arms with ease.
Behind the scenes, the kitchen space has increased by 30%, allowing the team to broaden their food offering and operate with improved efficiency. The upgraded area features state-of-the-art equipment designed to support high-volume, high-quality food service.
Entertainment remains an important part of the Tollemache experience. The pool room has undergone a dramatic makeover, now featuring a brand-new pool table, two new darts boards, new furniture and a TV to create a dedicated entertainment and social space.
While the refurbishment focused primarily on internal improvements, the exterior has also benefited from new signage and planting, and a newly added tractor bay. Dave had previously invested heavily in the beer garden and outdoor seating, so these touches ensure the whole site now feels consistent, welcoming, and ready for year-round trade. We wish Dave and the entire team the very best as they enter the next chapter of the Tollemache’s journey. With its fresh look, enhanced facilities, and warm, inviting atmosphere, we’re confident that customers will be just as delighted with the results as we are!
