ROBINSONS CONTINUES TO INVEST ACROSS PUB ESTATE

Stockport based Robinsons Brewery, who operate over 240 tenanted and 20 managed pubs in North Wales and the North West of England, has continued to invest in its pubs throughout the pandemic, with a multi-million-pound investment programme including 20 significant refurbishments since the beginning of the pandemic. These investments - alongside general repairs and redecorations - have enhanced the quality of its pubs to ensure they are safe and ready to welcome customers back.

Robinsons was shortlisted as Pub Company of the Year at the 2021 Publican Awards, despite the challenges of the last year. Being shortlisted two years running is a real cause of pride for the family-run brewery, which has continued to fly the flag and support its licensees and employees in the face of the pandemic.

Looking forward to the 21st  of June and with lockdown rules gradually easing, people can now visit pubs and enjoy some long-awaited pub classics and ales. Robinsons’ have introduced safe and stylish outdoor areas across their pub estate, revamping original patio areas introducing outdoor heaters, and creating snug seating and sheltered spaces. Many beer gardens have been transformed into relaxing spaces with marquees, pods and outdoor dining areas, increasing the number of covers and allowing for a more comfortable experience; the same dedication has been given to the pub interiors, which customers can now also enjoy.

William Robinson, Managing Director (Pub Division), said: “Investment, licensee support and training have been key drivers over the last year in particular. We have invested a large amount of capital expenditure and completed just over 20 pub refurbishments. As a result, our pubs have traded well when the weather has permitted, with infection rates at very low levels and on the back of the success of the vaccination programme, the government must permit a full relaxation of restrictions from 21st June. We fully expect that outdoor areas will remain very popular; customer safety and great experiences are the bedrock of a great pub visit.”

Enjoy delicious food at pubs such as the Puss in Boots Stockport, or some great ales with a view at The Windsor Castle Marple – widely known for its fresh fruit and veg stall on the side of the pub, open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

One of Robinson’s newest acquisitions, the Masons Arms, Strawberry Bank, is also operating a walk-in service and table bookings here. Set in the beautiful countryside of the Southern Lake District, the Masons Arms is a Lakeland institution, celebrated for stunning accommodation (with newly refurbished self-contained bedrooms and cottages), and a menu that’s full of locally sourced produce.

Ben Robinson, Director of Tenanted Sales, commented: “It has been pleasing to have received many enquiries from high quality operators who have been attracted to run our pubs over the past twelve months. In a time where circumstances have prevailed against our industry and the challenges of the hospitality industry have been apparent for all to see, it has been reassuring that proven operators not only see the value in a business partnership with Robinsons, but they share our optimism for the future of the pub.”
