Abersoch truly comes into its own during late summer into autumn, thanks to its unique microclimate, and it’s easy to see why the Llŷn Peninsula is such a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Whether you’re strolling along the coast, tackling one of the Llŷn Peninsula’s scenic walking trails, or making the most of the area’s fantastic watersports, there’s no better way to round off a day of adventure than with a visit to a welcoming local pub. Dotted across the peninsula, you’ll find a number of Robinsons pubs that are perfect for a well-earned pint and (or) a delicious meal after a day of exploring.
Glyn Y Weddw Arms, Llanbedrog
Having reopened earlier this year, the Glyn Y Weddw Arms is back and better than ever. The pub has long been a favourite stop for walkers exploring Llanbedrog Beach and the surrounding coastal paths.
Just a short walk from the beach and close to the beautiful grounds of Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, it’s the perfect place to rest for a refreshing drink or enjoy a hearty meal after a day spent discovering the coast. While you’re in the area, don’t miss the famous Tin Man sculpture, perched on Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd and offering spectacular views across Cardigan Bay.
There are several fantastic walking routes that start or pass close to the Glyn Y Weddw Arms. If you’re looking for a longer adventure, the Castell Abersoch – Abersoch Village and Harbour Loop from Llanbedrog is a great option:
For something shorter, the Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd Summit Loop from Llanbedrog takes just over an hour and is the perfect route before or after a well-earned pint.
St Tudwals Inn and The Vaynol, Abersoch
Located on Abersoch High Street, both the St Tudwals Inn and The Vaynol are perfectly placed for exploring some of the area’s most beautiful beaches and coastal walks. With easy access to routes around Ty’n Towyn, Traeth Porth Ceiriad and Morfa’r Gors, they’re an ideal starting point whether you’re planning a full day of walking or a leisurely afternoon on the beach.
If you’re up for a challenge, the Mynydd Tir-Y-Cwmwd loop from Abersoch begins in the centre of Abersoch, right by both pubs, and takes around five hours to complete:
If you’d prefer something a little shorter, the Llŷn Peninsula Coast Path – Porth Ceiriad Beach Loop from Abersoch is a moderate walk taking just under three hours, with beautiful views of the Llŷn Peninsula throughout:
Y Bryncynan, Morfa Nefyn
Y Bryncynan is the perfect spot for exploring the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula. Within a short drive you’ll find beautiful beaches including Nefyn Beach, Llanbedrog, Pwllheli and Traeth Porthdinllaen, making it an ideal stop after a day by the sea.
Whether you’re following the coastal path or don’t mind tackling a little rocky terrain, the walks around Y Bryncynan offer some of the peninsula’s most rewarding scenery.

The Sun Inn, Llanengan
The Sun Inn is the perfect place to refuel after exploring the western Llŷn Peninsula. Just a short distance away is Porth Neigwl (also known as Hell’s Mouth), a stunning beach popular with surfers, kayakers and walkers.
Whether you’re following the coast or heading inland, there are plenty of scenic routes nearby. The Mynydd Rhiw route is a fantastic option, where spectacular views are matched by a rich archaeological heritage, including evidence spanning from the Neolithic period to the Middle Ages.
The Mynydd Rhiw Loop from Plas yn Rhiw to Llŷn is a moderate 4.3-mile walk, typically taking just over two hours to complete. The route offers terrain and fantastic views from the summit, stretching across much of North Wales, including views of Cardigan Bay and the dramatic coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula.
