ROBINSONS BREWERY CELEBRATE NATIONAL FAMILY BUSINESS DAY

Family-run businesses across the UK are the very heart of the nation and deserve to be recognised for the significant contribution they make. Family firms come in all sizes and sectors with many having been around for hundreds of years, such as Robinsons Brewery, based in the heart of Stockport for 184 years. The family brewers own a collection of around 250 pubs, inns and hotels across the Northwest, North Wales and Yorkshire, and exist as one of the most respected names in British brewing and innkeeping. National Family Business Day, which takes place annually on September 23, celebrates the cumulative contribution of British family firms, like Robinsons, make to the UK economy.

When it comes to the numbers, they stand for themselves.  Studies show that there are around 6 million family firms in the UK today, that they account for more than 12 million jobs and generate around 25% of GDP. It is also recognised that the greatest part of Britain’s wealth is held within family businesses. The family business sector is a force to be reckoned locally, regionally and nationally.

William Robinson and Oliver Robinson, Directors at Robinsons Brewery said: “80% of our food supply across both our tenanted and managed pub estates continues to be from family businesses, as are all the tools of trade equipment that we purchase from Stephenson’s - a local family business we have worked with for 3 generations. We also work beside Heineken and Westons who are family businesses too. We are delighted to be taking part in a day that celebrates businesses like ours and are proud to be a family firm that has been in operation since 1838. We continue to invest in our family business future.”
