Trevor has been part of the Robinsons family at Unicorn Packaging Centre for 10 years. A job that's largely unseen, he's keeping things running smoothing behind the scenes. We asked Trevor if he'd be up for sharing a bit more about his role and what keeps him motivated.

So, Engineering at Robinsons… walk us through a day in your role.

My job is all about making sure the plant and equipment run like clockwork. To do that, we need a strong team of engineers, which we’ve built over the years. We also need a good stock of spare parts so we can act fast if something breaks down. When issues crop up, it’s about responding quickly to minimise downtime and keep everything moving.

What’s made Robinsons feel like home for the past 10 years?

For me, it’s the people and the culture. Robinsons is a genuinely great place to work – the directors are approachable, friendly and supportive, and there’s a real sense of teamwork at every level. From brewing the beer to bottling and packaging, everyone pulls together and strives for the best. It’s that shared commitment and support that makes all the difference.

What motivates you to come to work every day?

I enjoy the challenge of preventing breakdowns and getting the plant back up and running as quickly as possible when something does go wrong. Sometimes that means hours on the phone arranging spare parts and extra resources. But I love the problem-solving side of it.

Tell us about a change you’ve seen at Robinsons over the years.

I’ve seen a lot of engineers come and go, and staff retention is something I take seriously. The biggest change has to be the opening of the new brewery at Bredbury – that was a huge project with plenty of challenges. It’s great to see the Robinsons family investing in the future and having a clear vision for where the company is heading.

What’s your favourite beer?

I’m a big fan of Trooper – it’s a great pint! You can’t get hold of that in every pub though, so I do enjoy a Guinness as well.

When you’re not at work, what does life look like?

Most of my free time is spent walking Hamish, my dog – he’s just turned three. I’m a keen DIYer and do most of the work around the house myself. My favourite thing, though, is going out with my wife Valerie for a show or a nice meal and a few drinks.
