Introducing Munro Pale Ale

Brewed by our family-brewer friends Fyne Ales, located in the North of Scotland, this new summer ale is a 4.2% pale ale, packed full of fruity flavours such as grapefruit and peach. The beer is named after a group of 282 Scottish mountains known as the ‘Munros’.

Sam Shrimpton, the Head Brewer at Fyne Ales has created a typical mountain ale, using a combination of American hops. Those from the east which generally have piney, more earthy characteristics and hops from the west which typically have more stone fruit characteristics.

With the water sources of Fyne Ales beers coming straight from the hills, there really isn’t a more fitting name for a beer, and we’re delighted to be collaborating with them.

Once the beer has been brewed its heading down to our production site to be packaged, ready to be picked up from a store near you.

Munro Pale Ale is the first in a series of collaborations beers between ourselves, the Co-op and other independent breweries.

What other beers can I pick up at the Co-op?

  • Co-op Best Bitter: Brewed by Robinsons, this Best Bitter showcases the best of British hops. With four traditional British hop varieties in this 4% bitter, the beer has strong raw-hop characteristics such as grassy, herbal notes and flavours.
  • Co-op Fairtrade IPA: Brewed by Robinsons using Columbian Fairtrade Cane Sugar, this IPA is packed with flavour at 5%. We brew this beer with a variety of our most-loved hops, which you can find in some of our other pale beers. You can expect a well-balanced pale ale with sweeter citrus flavours.
  • Dizzy Blonde: New to the shelves of the Co-op, but not new to you, Dizzy Blonde is now available in 342 stores across the North West of the UK. We’re delighted to have one of our most popular blonde ales stocked across our homeland. At a slightly stronger ABV than what you’d find on cask in the pub, this 4.2% is a true crowd pleaser.

Munro Pale is available from over 1200 Co-op stores across the UK. It’s an exciting time for Fyne Ales as we assist them in increasing their brewery awareness south of the Scottish border. Our other new beers are available in up to 1900 Co-op stores across the UK, with Dizzy Blonde maintaining exclusivity in the North-West of the UK.
