Ammie, General Manager, The Crown Inn
Ammie’s journey shows just how much can change with hard work and when you believe in yourself. After being told she’d never run a pub because she was a woman, she proved otherwise, progressing through Robinsons from Assistant Manager to General Manager now at The Crown Inn.
What does a “good day” at work look like?
“A good day is having a laugh with the team and the customers. I’m lucky enough to work with a brilliant team, and we all genuinely get on well. When everyone’s enjoying themselves, it creates such a great atmosphere, even if it’s not about the work itself, you feel it, and so do the customers!”
What are you most proud of in your job?
“I’m proud to work for Robinsons. They’re ahead of the trends and the times, giving people like me space to grow and the opportunity to do a really good job. There’s always room to learn and progress.”
Who has supported or inspired you most in your working life?
“There’s one person, Diane, who was the General Manager of the Crown Inn before me. She really helped build my confidence when I started. I didn’t think I’d ever be as successful as I am today, and she encouraged me along the way. I still call her for advice now.”
What is the best thing about being a woman working in pubs?
“People often have a stereotypical view of someone working in a pub, no one ever assumes I’m the General Manager. The best thing is proving them wrong and helping make it normal for women to work and lead in pubs.”
Cheers to Ammie for her journey with Robinsons. Here’s to raising a glass to her determination, and to the women leading the way in hospitality!
