The Glyn Y Weddw Arms, Llanbedrog, has reopened following a 15-month closure after a devastating fire caused significant damage and forced the much-loved village pub to cease trading.
Our Pub Partner at the Glyn Y Weddw, Martin, has been at the pub for more than 25 years. Alongside his son Sean, who has taken on the pub as it reopens, they are looking forward to welcoming customers back and serving the local community once again.
The investment has transformed the interior while preserving the character and warmth which the pub is known for. The ground floor trading area now features a rich colour palette of mustard yellows and deep greens, complemented by floral fabrics and wall coverings. The refreshed design successfully combines contemporary styling with the charm of a traditional country pub.
A new log-burning stove with a brick surround has been installed in place of the former open fire and traditional flagged flooring has been introduced throughout much of the pub, complemented by timber flooring and tartan carpets within the snug areas.
The bar remains in its original place and has undergone a full refurbishment, including the addition of sage green tiling to the bar back that complements the timber finishes. The pub’s popular carvery counter has also been reclad to integrate with the new design scheme. There is now a mix of fixed seating and loose furniture throughout the pub, upholstered in premium fabrics and leathers in earthy tones. Carefully designed lighting creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the evenings, while natural daylight enhances the interior during the day.
Externally, the building has been fully repainted and has new signage and an updated lighting scheme. Significant investment has also been made in the outdoor areas, including new benches at the front of the pub and enhancements to the popular covered seating area.
As part of the investment, the Pub Partner has installed a new children's play area to replace the former playground. Complete with climbing frames, slides and swings, it has been positioned next to the outdoor seating area so families can spend time together while children play.
The comprehensive refurbishment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Glyn Y Weddw Arms, ensuring it is well positioned to serve the Llanbedrog community and visitors to the area for many years to come. The Glyn Y Weddw Arms officially reopenened on the 12th June and looks forward to welcoming customers, both old and new, back through its doors.
