It’s one thing to have a day out on your bike and take a break at one of our twenty or so cycling friendly pubs. It’s quite another to contemplate a cycling holiday in the UK. Yet, more and more people are doing just that… and loving it!

Luckily a good proportion of our cycle friendly pubs have rooms, and many are in some of the best areas for road and mountain biking in the UK.  We have hotels near to some of the top mountain biking centres in the country and all of our inns & pubs with rooms offer great road cycling from the door.

If that all sounds a bit ‘full on’ we also have a number of inns and hotels near ‘pancake flat’ cycling trails that are more than suitable for family rides and for people who just want to hire a bike to explore the local area.

Whatever your two wheeled passion, do check out the individual websites of all of our inns, hotels and pubs .  Each has information about local cycling, bike hire, family trails and good, local road routes.

Cycling holidays in Wales

Stay at the Royal Ship in Dolgellau and you’re just a few minute’s drive from the mountains and the trails of the legendary Coed y Brenin mountain bike park in the Snowdonia National Park.  For something more relaxed take a break at the George III near Barmouth and you can take the flat and gently winding Mawddach Trail from the hotel’s front door, all the way to the beach at Fairbourne.

Cycle breaks in the Lake District

We’ve got hotels next to some of the best mountain biking and road cycling areas in the Lake District National Park.  Stay at the Masons Arms and you’re just across Lake Windemere from Grizedale Forest, which has trails for family cycling and hardcore MTBers.  Prefer to bag a few passes on your road bike?  Then book a break at the Queens Head in Troutbeck and fill your boots in the heart of the lakes.

Cycling routes in the Yorkshire Dales

There’s some truly stunning road routes from the Spread Eagle at Sawley, a well know cycle friendly pub of many years standing.  ‘The Spread’ is also close to Pendle Hill & Gisburn Forest for anyone needing a downhill mountain biking fix.  Move up into the Yorkshire Dales National Park itself and enjoy the cycle touring country around the Fountaine Inn at Linton in Craven and cycle the wonderful Wharfdale Valley.
