CONGLETON PUB RE-OPENS FOLLOWING COMPLETE RENOVATION

Robinsons Brewery are proud to announce the successful re-opening of the Unicorn pub, nestled in the heart of Congleton, after an exciting one month long refurbishment. Boasting a perfect combination between sports-focused entertainment and a welcoming family-friendly environment, the transformed pub showcases the Stockport brewers’ dedication to investing in their 250-strong pub estate.

Following careful planning and implementation by Robinsons’ in-house design team, the new-look pub incorporates an urban industrial feel, with a colour palette of navy blues and greens, feature-barrel tables and a mixture of fixed and loose furniture. The pub’s dedicated sports room is inclusive of its own bar, two pool tables, a darts board and large screen TV’s visible throughout. Sports lovers can cheer on their favourite teams and enjoy live sporting events in a modern and vibrant atmosphere. The bar has been re-sized in the sports area to ensure customer ease and comfort, the darts area has been moved to a secluded and safer space, and existing pool tables have both been revamped.

Aside from the sports room is the main bar area, with brand new timber flooring, new furniture throughout, and innovative artwork capturing the history of the pub. Walls have been removed and clear glazed screens added, opening up the pub and creating a brighter and more spacious venue. The refurbishment aims to enhance the pub's family-friendly appeal, encouraging more families to spend quality time in an inviting community setting close to the local shopping centre.

William Robinson, Joint Managing Director (Pub Division) said: “The Unicorn represents a true testament to our dedication to delivering unforgettable experiences to the community. We are delighted to give something back to the local community of Congleton. This refurbishment signifies our commitment to providing an exceptional pub that caters to both sports enthusiasts and families, fostering a sense of unity and belonging in the heart of Congleton."

Externally the pub has seen a huge transformation too. New double-glazed windows have been added and a darker decoration scheme, along with new stencilled signage, a decked area, ramped access and festoon lighting to help lift the kerb appeal and give the pub its own new identity. It now captures the attention of by-passers and is ready to welcome back its community.

Licensee John Maughan said: “After over 25 years as licensee at The Unicorn and over 35 years working at the pub, I am thrilled with its new look. The transformation has exceeded our expectations, breathing new life into the Unicorn. The refreshed ambiance creates more of a family-friendly environment, and the sports room looks incredible too! We’re excited to welcome both our loyal customers and newcomers to the pub.”

The pub has disabled access, new baby changing facilities and its own private carpark. For more information please visit their website here.
