BBQ & BEERS

Is there anything better than opening some cold beverages with your friends whilst the sun shines and you’ve just lit the BBQ?Summer is here and whilst we’re all crossing our fingers and praying of some breaks from the rain, we thought we’d give you some beer and BBQ pairings to ignite some inspiration whilst you’re making sure you don’t burn the sausages!

Got a hankering for some pulled pork? How about some pork ribs dripping with BBQ sauce? With strong-roasted malt and hints of coffee, chocolate and caramel, a darker beer such as TROOPER Fear of the Dark is the wonderful accompaniment to all those smokey flavours. With it’s robust taste and aroma, Stout’s are perfectly match the intensity of BBQ pork’s and neutralise the sweetness of that BBQ sauce.

What’s a BBQ without some grilled chicken? Whether it’s wings, breast or thigh, the perfect partner is a blonde beer and we’ve got one for you; Dizzy Blonde. Dizzy’s mild malt sweetness and low bitterness pairs brilliantly with sweet and spicy flavours (so no need to go easy on the hot Paprika!). Not only is Chicken great with Dizzy but so is all types of seafood, so why not go rogue and try some BBQ’d fish – you never know, it might become your new go-to!

Onto the main event. What’s a BBQ without a burger? One that we don’t want to be it, that’s for sure… Just like at your local, beer and burgers go hand in hand so there is a wealth of options to choose from. In our humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with a Hopnik Citra IPA. Our delicious IPA is jam packed full of Citra hops and has a pronounced medium-to-dry finish making it the perfect accompaniment for a juicy burger. If you’re not a fan of hoppy beers, our flagship Unicorn Copper Ale’s malty finish is also a great accompaniment.

After all these delicious treats, you’ll need a palette cleanser before you reach for something sweet. In the same way you can enjoy a fruity cider, reach for a bottle of Ginger Tom; a ginger beer with a twist of Old Tom – it’s great over ice – trust us!

Got room for dessert? Pairing the sweetness of chocolate or cheese with our legendary Old Tom is a no brainer. The award-winning beer, which celebrates its 125th birthday this year (making it the original craft beer in our eyes!) pairs as easily as your favourite vino with the rich flavours of chocolatey desserts. At 8.5% we’d recommend treating it as you would a glass of wine too!

If this has got your tastebuds dancing, you can Robinsons beer for your BBQ either at selected Morrisons & Co-Op stores or online at our online store here.
