Amongst all the exciting changes taking place across our pubs this year, the Wilbraham Arms in Alsager might just be one of the biggest - not only visually, but also in its move from a Pub Partner site into our Managed pub estate.
Built in 1980 by Robinsons Brewery, the Wilbraham Arms was originally opened by Mr Peter Robinson himself and quickly became a much-loved community favourite. Aside from a conservatory addition in 1988, the pub remained largely untouched for decades. So, when the time came to breathe new life into it, our Design and Property teams wanted to ensure there was a perfect balance between creating character and giving it the premium community local pub feel. If you would like to visit a pub which feels like a home away from home (with even better food!), then the Wilbraham is the place to be.
Over the last few months, our team has been hard at work on a major 14-week refurbishment - and we’re thrilled to finally reveal the results. With a significant investment behind the project, the Wilbraham Arms has been completely reimagined inside and out.
The old conservatory has been removed, making way for a brand-new side extension that adds light, space, and flexibility to the layout. It’s a transformation that not only modernises the building but opens up exciting new possibilities for how the pub can be enjoyed.
One of the first things you’ll notice is how fresh and welcoming the pub now looks from the outside. The building has been fully redecorated, complete with new signage, lighting, and stylish outdoor seating. We’ve also added a brand-new children’s play area, creating an even better experience for families visiting the pub.
Once inside, the changes are even more impressive. Every trading area has been refurbished to bring a warm, modern, premium feel throughout. The bar has been repositioned and redesigned with a new bar servery, snug booth style seating, parquet flooring, and two cosy log-burning fires - perfect for creating that homely, community atmosphere.
The kitchen has also undergone a major upgrade and is now one of the largest kitchens in in our pub estate. With improved space and facilities, our team is better equipped than ever to deliver a great food experience.
The new extension has been transformed into a bright and airy seating area, thanks to its beautiful glass roof feature. It offers a fresh, modern feel while still echoing the character of the original orangery-style layout.
The Wilbraham Arms now stands as a premium community pub that we’re incredibly proud of - and we can’t wait for both long-time locals and first-time visitors to come and see the transformation for themselves.
