Tony Massey, Business Development Manager for Robinsons Brewery said: “The Cock has always been one of our most popular pubs so it was never a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ we would reopen it! After several months of discussions with the brewery design team and the influence of several of our other high profile refurbishments in the area, we decided on a new vision that would carry the pub into its next era.”
Inspired by the success of the Bakers Vaults and The Blossoms in Stockport, The London Road pub has been reborn as the Flying Coach - a ‘beer shrine’ that will offer an extensive range of international craft beers and a rotating range of Robinsons’ award-winning cask ales and guest beers from the bars 6 new hand pulls.
Robinsons’ in-house design team worked around the clock with a design that maintained the historic atmosphere of the pub. Internally, the traditional rooms remain with select walls removed to open the snug and lounge areas up to allow a clear view from the front to the rear.
Areas of the pub have been tastefully decorated using a palette of blues and subtle grey tones. The design also incorporates several talking points including old elixir bottles, hand painted versions of the Flying Coach’s impressive new logo and a wall of loom shuttles; a nod Stockport’s rich textile history.
Robinsons’ trademark copper signage adorns the front of the pub whilst the pub’s Tudor style architecture has received a neutral paint scheme. At the rear of the pub lies a new decking area and planting scheme which will undoubtedly become a welcome addition during the summer.
Along with an impressive beer range and stunning new look, the Flying Coach has developed a simple yet delicious bar menu made up of hearty English comfort food including a traditional ploughman’s, rustic sandwiches, hand cut chips served in tankards or posh cheese on toast served on rough cut slices of bloomer bread.
Tony said: “The pub will offer something that is completely different in Hazel Grove. The Flying Coach will champion an unmatched beer range with different types from around the world. We think it will be a great enhancement to the fantastic pubs we have within the area and help attract more people to Hazel Grove.”
The Flying Coach is open from 12 noon on Thursday 21st May serving a range of Robinsons cask ales and international craft beers.
