To celebrate National British Pie Week, starting Monday 2nd March, The George & Dragon in Holmes Chapel is extending their ‘Pie Wednesday’ offer to run all week; in the name of charity!
To raise money for The Joshua Tree charity, award winning chef Billy Doyle and his team have put their passion for pies to good use and created a special menu of 6 homemade fully encased shortcrust pastry pies including; Beef & Blue Cheese Pie and an old fashioned Huntington Fidget Pie. All pies are served with a choice of locally sourced potatoes or vegetables from nearby Lowe’s Farm in Byley.
Over the past year The George & Dragon has put on a number of events to raise money and awareness for The Joshua Tree and to date they have raised nearly £2,000.
Landlord, Martin Barnes said “Getting involved with a local charity is really important to us. Pubs should be a central part of the community and The Joshua Tree is a lifeline for poorly children and their families. It’s nice to be able to give something back.”
