Plans for the renovation began in January following a brief consultation period between Robinsons in-house design team and the Marple Bridge pub.
“We’ve always been a cosy little pub,” said Joanne. “Our regulars have always found a certain charm in the way the Windsor looked but it was clear to me that it was time for a change. Thankfully, Robinsons came to the rescue as soon as I suggested it.”
“The Windsor Castle is a great village pub,” said Business Development Manager, Tony Massey. “It has a very traditional allure and a wonderful sense of community that we wanted to maintain.”
The refurbishment has transformed the pub with the fitting of new laminate wooden flooring and contemporary leather seating. The back bar area has been completely rebuilt to accommodate the brand new range of spirits that the Windsor Castle will offer. The bar has upgraded with a brand new cask ale hand-pull to allow for greater rotation of new and exciting brews. Joanne and her family served over 20,000 pints of ale last year so allowing more variety of her range of cask ale was something she felt was necessary.
“I’ve noticed a clear change in the way people are enjoying their weekly tipple,” said Joanne. “There has definitely been a growth in popularity for real ale in over past 5 years and a lot of younger drinkers are starting to choose it over lager.”
The transformation of the bar has been a dream come true for Joanne, who wanted to run a pub since she was young.
“I have worked in numerous pubs over the years but I always had my eye on the Windsor Castle. It was my dream to one day run the place. I finally achieved this 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back. It’s been challenging but rewarding and I would recommend that anyone who is thinking about running a pub should have a go, I’ve had no regrets."
“The pub looks absolutely amazing,” said Tony, “it’s really given the place a new lease of life and feels like a rebirth of this fantastic site.”
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it,” said Joanne, “I was almost reduced to tears. The team at Robinsons have really over delivered and exceeded my expectations. I cannot thank Tony and everyone at the brewery enough, they’ve all been a pleasure to work with. I know that with this new transformation that the Windsor is finally a castle fit for a king!”
