THE KING WILLIAM, WILMSLOW, REOPENS FOLLOWING SUBSTANTIAL INVESTMENT

The King William, one of the oldest pubs in the heart of Wilmslow, Cheshire - purchased by Robinsons in June 1949 – has reopened following a substantial investment from Stockport based brewers Robinsons and licensee Carl Entwistle (also licensee of the popular Drum & Monkey pub, Alderley Edge). The revamp took 8-weeks to complete and has refreshed the pub both internally and externally, boasting a restored new look for the community.

The external areas have been updated with brand new signage, partnered with a redesigned rear courtyard now offering over 50 covers, and a small patio/seating area to the front of the pub enhancing the outdoor opportunity, which has become a priority for customers over the past year especially.

The pub’s internal layout has been improved by removing an old chimney beast and giving it a more open-plan layout featuring a brand-new polished oak bar. The bar offers a great range of award-winning cask ales and chilled lagers, alongside the draught range which is further complemented by a significant spirit and wine selection, appealing to everyone’s tastes.

Wayne Roach, Business Development Manager at Robinsons Brewery, commented: “It was important to create a more open feel whilst retaining the charm and true character of a pub. The premises sits in a prime location on the outskirts of Wilmslow town centre.

The vision was to totally change the feel of the pub as it historically operated as a sports bar with a limited food offer. The renovation and enhanced decor have created a real upmarket old London tavern style pub, which is now more family- friendly with an excellent all day food offer.”

A new fireplace has been installed in the front snug room with carriage style fixed seating, retaining its unique feel to ensure groups and couples can enjoy new surroundings in a relaxed ambience, encouraged by atmospheric mood and top hat lighting. The colour scheme displays a rustic autumnal range of burnt oranges, yellows, and browns – dating back to when the pub was once used as a Coach House, the arched window was then an entry point for the horses to the back yard and stables.

There are 6 newly refurbished boutique en-suite bedrooms which offer accommodation for businesspersons, commuters, leisure users and occasional stays for the Manchester Airport.

The King William is open all day every day offering quality food and beverages. The food is a traditional British fayre with small plates and daily specials, such as sticky sesame chilli beef, mouth-watering steak and ale pies, and delicious vegan plant-based burgers – which can all be washed down by a wide portfolio of drinks.
