Overview

**REFURBISHMENT PLANNED**

The Swan and Chequers presents an opportunity to transform a traditional pub into a modern pub and bar with an independent vibe.  Situated at the top of Hightown, it has a commanding position looking down the main street of Sandbach.  We’re looking for the right business partner to see beyond the current character of the building and get excited about ambitious refurbishment plans. The Swan and Chequers is currently largely open plan with panelled walls, however our plan is to make this pub an open and welcoming bright place to be! With the use of glass doors and bright tiles, turning this dark pub, into the hub of Sandabch. As well as the cosy inside space, the venue has a large walled garden to the rear, offering the potential to more than double capacity in those warmer months. It’s one of the town’s bigger outdoor venues, sat back behind the road, it’s a real hidden gem. Robinsons are seeking to work with a new business partner who is looking to challenge themselves beyond the traditional, as we reinvent the venue through both the décor and customer offer of the Swan and Chequers. Transforming the Swan and Chequers from a traditional wet led pub offer to a destination pub and bar with the right small food offering. We’re looking for somebody with an appetite for doing things differently in the town and stepping into a market the town is missing. Do you have the vision to move this business forward? We are looking for a new licensee with the drive and enthusiasm to move the Swan and Chequers to the destination venue that it should be.

The Detail

A Little more about us

Sandbach is a market town in the County of Cheshire. Sandbach history is officially recorded from as early as the Doomsday book. In the 9th century local Saxons erected bejewelled Crosses to proclaim the Christian message and these famous Saxon Crosses still stand on the cobbles of the Market Square today. Markets have been held in the town for many centuries and in 1579 Queen Elizabeth awarded Sandbach a market charter, which ensured the town’s prosperity. The Charter Market takes place every Thursday, with regular Saturday markets and specialist markets taking place in the town throughout the year. Sandbach is home to a fantastic array of independent stores offering a wide variety of products, with cafés, restaurants and hostelries providing a tempting and diverse selection of food and drink for daytime and evening visitors to the town.
