Area Overview
Grange-over-Sands is a quiet seaside retreat on the Southern tip of the Cartmel peninsula, between the mountains and the sea, and only 7 miles from Windermere. Grange is a pretty resort with an Edwardian flavour and a mild climate. It is on the shores of Morecambe Bay, and from the 13th Century until the 1850’s, the major route from Lancaster was across the sands. In 1887, the coming of the Furness Railway encouraged the growth of Grange from a small hamlet to the town we see today. Wealthy industrialists from Lancashire and Yorkshire were quick to build large houses here.
Private Accommodation
Well presented living accommodation compromising of two bedrooms one with en-suite, recently refitted kitchen, lounge, and full bathroom.
Overview
The Royal Oak, situated at the top of Lindale village and overlooking Grange and Morecambe Bay, is a traditional Cumbrian Village inn. Nicely presented open-plan village pub with three distinct areas; and a small garden to the rear of the pub. The pub has an excellent reputation for freshly made food including char-grills and weekly specials. The Royal Oak’s exterior has traditional hand painted signage, while the interior is adorned with a soft colour palette of blues, greens and neutral tones. There is a stove and mantel in the top dining area along with a cast iron fireplace to create a key focal point on entering.
Trading Accommodation
There is one small bar, and one large trading room, with three distinct areas complete with log burners and roaring fires, which truly match the idea of what a country pub should look and feel like. The Royal Oak has a fully equipped and well managed catering kitchen. There is parking at the front for a few cars and a large spacious car park to the rear along with an attractive garden area.
