Area Overview

Milnthorpe sits in South Cumbria within striking distance of the popular Lake District via the nearby M6 motorway. There is a busy Friday street market in the square, and many of the buildings in the centre of the village (now a conservation area). Milnthorpe became an important staging post and the Cross Keys gained a fine reputation as a coaching inn, with stabling for 36 horses (and receiving guests of no lesser importance than a Tsar of Russia and a Queen from Austria), a reputation which continues today. Milnthorpe has surroundings of peaceful tranquillity and the dramatic expanse of Morecambe Bay and Arnside, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Private Accommodation

The domestic accommodation comprises two bedrooms, a large lounge, kitchen and bathroom.

Trading Accommodation

The Cross Keys Hotel has 2 main entrances – one from the front main street which leads straight into the bar/lounge, and the other from the rear car park through the beer garden with direct access to the 1st floor function suite and snooker room. The main bar is an appropriate size and serves the lounge area where customers can eat and drink. Sports viewing is also popular in this pub and it benefits from a games area with a pool table. The 8 en-suite letting bedrooms are located on the 1st floor as is the 2-bedroomed domestic accommodation. There is also a separate cottage available to let. The function suite comprises 2 rooms, a private bar with fully equipped bar and comfortable seating for 60 people, and buffets for 120 people. Leading from the lounge bar is the main dance room, with its large wooden dance floor and raised balconies and separate toilets. There is an excellent catering kitchen off the breakfast room with additional storage areas beyond.
