Whitworth is a thriving town, population approximately 7,500, which is situated in the Rossendale Valley in Lancashire, in the North West of England. Whitworth is nestled in the foothills of the Pennines, between the towns of Bacup to the north and Rochdale to the south. Whitworth sits right on the tip of the Lancashire boundary, bordering Greater Manchester to the south (Rochdale), with West Yorkshire just over the easterly hills in Todmorden. The township of Whitworth embraces the entire length of the Whitworth Valley, covering an area of around seven square miles. It is a long, thin village, consisting of the communities of Healey, Whitworth, Facit and Shawforth, all of which are linked by the A671, part of the great turnpike road built in the 18th century to link Manchester to Skipton. The pub is located on the corner of Tonge Lane End & Cockhall Lane.

Overview

The Cock & Magpie is a warm and inviting traditional community pub that is situated on the crossroads on the outskirts of the busy village of Whitworth, close to Rochdale. The pub attracts regulars and locals as well as appealing to those visiting the area. The catering kitchen is well equipped and food is served on a daily basis. There is a central bar servery with a very active games room with pool table, traditional pub games and satellite sports to one side and a traditional style lounge bar on the other side with approximately 30+ covers. The pub offers a range of cask beers and occasional entertainment. Externally there is an excellent beer garden and patio/barbecue area which offers a safe environment for families to relax during the summer months. Robinsons are seeking an experienced operator who can engage with the local community. Ideally the new operator would have food experience to create an appealing food offer and continue to maintain the warm welcome and high standards.

The Cock & Magpie is a stone built, easily managed pub with one central servery that divides the pub in two. On the one side is a very active games area with lots of pub team activity. In the lounge, there are covers for approx 30 people to eat and drink and also ample space to host entertainment. The decor is traditional and inviting. There is a catering kitchen and an enclosed outside area to the rear.
