Royal Oak

The Royal Oak Lindale is a destination food pub worth visiting in the southern Lake District. We’re a family-friendly pub in Lindale near Grange-over-Sands, just off the A590 or at the top of the hill in Lindale. We’re not far from the picturesque village of Cartmel and the edge of Lake Windermere, near Fell Foot. At the Royal Oak you can expect to find great British food and a great selection of drinks, all served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We have a large car park and an inviting beer garden with tables to sit outside.

The village of Lindale is situated in the Lake District National Park and the Royal Oak has a long history of welcoming locals and travellers alike. The pub was first licensed in the mid-1800s and is situated at the top of Lindale Hill, hence being locally known as the ‘Top House’. The pub used to be where carriers’ horses could be changed on the way west to High Newton. The horses are now gone but the pub retains many of its historic features and has undergone a refurbishment that has been faithful to its heritage as a warm, welcoming, and cosy place to eat and drink.
