The Red Lion is an award-winning country pub & restaurant serving delicious home-cooked and locally supplied food from suppliers throughout the North West. We are pleasantly situated in Lower Withington Village. The perfect place for eating, drinking, and getting together with friends or family. Our garden space is set across three areas with space for everyone and every occasion. We have a function room available for private gatherings and can help you celebrate anything from birthday parties, Christmas parties, celebrations of life and anything in between. We are really passionate about the food we serve at the Red Lion, Lower Withington and are proud to serve our customers freshly prepared and locally sourced produce. Meals are homemade and freshly prepared, our menus are a sample of what we offer and may change based on seasonality. Please contact us if you have any special dietary requirements.
Traditional Sunday Roast – A taste of Cheshire
Our traditional Sunday Roast- “A taste of Cheshire” is served 12pm -7pm every Sunday. Choose from a choice of 4 meats, 48 hour proper stock gravy and locally sourced Farmers fresh vegetables. Vegan and Vegetarian options also available. We recommend that you book your table to avoid disappointment. *Please note that we can only accept telephone bookings at this time.
Christmas at the red lion
Join us this Christmas at the Red Lion, Lower Withington. From 1st to 24th December, enjoy our festive menu, with two courses for £25 or three courses for £32. Fancy letting someone else do the cooking on Christmas Day? Join us at 12:30pm or 4:00pm and enjoy our special Christmas Day set menu for £100 per adult and £50 per child (under 12s).

Lovell Quinta Arboretum is one of Cheshire’s Gardens of Distinction. The 28-acre arboretum is situated in the village of Swettenham, holds 800 species of plants, trees and flora and was the lifelong project of Sir Bernard Lovell, founder of Jodrell Bank. Open year round from dawn to dusk.
