Welcome to our picturesque country pub and restaurant in the hamlet of Smallwood. At the Legs of Man, we’re committed to keeping old school traditions alive. We’re a family run business serving great food, that stands the test of time. We believe there is something special in the little touches, that have gradually disappeared from dining out experiences. We’re here to keep them alive!

A little more about us

The first licence on this site can be traced back to the late 1400's. The present building was erected in 1939, originally thatched a fire in 1956 when a spark from the chimney ignited the thatching led to a new tiled roof being put in its place. As well as serving great hearty fayre, we have an expansive garden perfect for the summer months and a large car park too. We offer a large bar food menu in addition to the A La Carte served in the oak panelled restaurant. Our chefs are renowned for their creative wholesome, homemade dishes and the specials board allows them to express their creativity. If you’re looking for a place to stop as you’re journeying on the M6, check out the Legs of Man. Sitting on the borders of rural Cheshire & Staffordshire, the pub is close to junction 17 on the M6. Our warm & charming atmosphere will instantly relax you. We pride ourselves on having a lot of regular diners and referrals.

Indulge in our 5 course evening menu for £33.95

Memories are made around the table so why rush through those moments? Take your time to enjoy great company and great food with our five course evening menu. It’s not a tasting menu, it’s simply a full menu. From starter to dessert with room for a palette cleanser and coffee and mints, we make every day an occasion.

Enjoy a three course lunch for £22.50

Enjoy lunch time like you used, with two and three course options available. Our ever popular luncheon menu is everything you’d expect to give you a touch of nostalgia midweek. Our luncheon menu is available Monday-Saturday between 12pm and 2pm. We recommend booking in advance!

Sunday Roasts

Why limit a Roast Dinner to a Sunday? At the Legs of Man you can enjoy one of our tasty Roasts every day of the week! From Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Lamb or Half Roast Chicken, our roasts feature on the menu every day of the week.

Group bookings and large parties

Planning an occasion? From birthday celebrations to anniversary meals, workplace reunions and everything in between, we can cater for your group booking. It’s a simply booking process just give us a call or drop us an email to enquire. For parties over 10 people, we do require a small deposit of £10 per person and would always be grateful for a pre-order to ensure smooth and speedy service on the day.

Do I need to book a table?

We’re a busy pub, particularly at lunch times and weekends. We recommend booking ahead to save disappointment. Reservations can be made via telephone on 01477500332 or enquire via email. Please specific if you have a preference of the bar or the restaurant when booking.
