About Us

We are a traditional Inn situated in Astbury directly opposite St Mary's Church an Anglican parish church in the center of the village. We offer a relaxed pub area that welcomes dogs. There is also a lounge area away from the bar if a more peaceful environment is preferred. Outside there is an extensive terrace and garden area with swings for children. For a small fee you can even book our dog field to let your canine friend stretch its legs. Famed for the quality of our beer and food, which is a vibrant mix of local and Italian dishes we offer a freshly prepared choice from the staple British fish and chips to the piatto base d’italia, la pizza, with plenty of variety in between.

A little more about us

From the Egerton Arms you can explore some of the many walks across the beautiful green countryside, amble along the canal, play 18 holes at the stunning Astbury golf club. There are also easy commutes to some of the local historic towns and villages and a little further afield the Peak District National Park offers stunning views of the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside. As stated we are directly opposite St Mary’s, a 13/14th century Anglican church, a building registered in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is possible that a church was present on the site in the Saxon era, although the earliest fabric in the church is Norman. The present ground plan was established in the 13th and 14th centuries, from which time the church's external appearance dates, apart from a major rebuilding in the later part of the 15th century, when the range of high windows or clerestory was added. All styles of English Gothic architecture, are represented in the church.

Our menu offers traditional British dishes and Italian classics with enough choice for everyone. Enjoy a meal in our bar, lounge or on those sunny days in the garden with a cracking pint of Robinsons' beer or a wine from our Organizzazione Nationale Assaggiatori di Vino (ONAV) professionally tasted wine menu. A comfortable night’s sleep to end the day and a hearty breakfast to invigorate an active day ahead. We have 6 well-presented ensuite bedrooms on the first floor, most overlooking the garden and most with super king-sized beds which can also be made into twin rooms.

Off the leash

Take your best friend to run free off the lead! Users of the field will have exclusive use of it during their session so they can relax in the knowledge that their dog is safe, secure and able to run free and play without being disturbed. The field is perfect for puppies and rescue dogs, or anyone wishing to train their dog off the leash in an enclosed area. Dogs need regular exercise to keep them fit. Exercise is not only important in providing physical activity for a dog, it also provides opportunities for toileting, investigation, exploration and interaction with people and other dogs. Book your spot below for 30 minutes or 1 hour. **Cost: 30 min £4.50 or 1hr £8. There is a shed for the dog owners to shelter from the weather on rainy days. Please make sure you dispose of dog waste in bins provided**
