    Queens Head Refurbishment Rooms

    Wednesday 4th January 2017

Christmas and New Year are over for another year and whilst Santa has been, hopefully, delivering you everything you’ve wanted this holiday season, we’ve been hard at work getting the new Queens Head Hotel Troutbeck ready for our launch in Spring.

We want to thank everyone for their support so far and we are delighted to announce that following our Facebook fan’s input, we’ve finally come to a decision on the names of our rooms!
Over the years, we’ve been visited by many locals and visitors to the area. Whether it’s just stopping by for a quick pint or resting their feet after a long day of hiking.

In honour of our beautiful surroundings, it seemed only fitting that we recognise the beauty of Cumbria by naming our new guest rooms after 10 Lake District Fells which have been so popular with you, the patrons of our humble little pub, over many generations.

So, without further ado, we present our new guest room names… Drum roll maestro!

Great End, Bowfell, Great Gable, Pillar, Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Nethermost, Catstye, Scafell and Esk!

We hope to reveal more information about the Queens Head for you all very soon… until then, it’s back to work!

    Wednesday 7th December 2016

Things have started moving quickly at Queens Head Hotel Troutbeck and despite a little snow threatening to delay things (fingers and toes crossed for a clear winter) we’ve now been on-site for just under a month, working hard to replace important interiors and develop our upstairs guest bedrooms.

If you ever had the pleasure of staying at The Queens Head before, you haven’t seen anything yet!

Guest visits to the area have always been an important part of Cumbria. They not only act as a great advertisement for the area, by word of mouth and social media, but also help support local Cumbria businesses and tourist attractions.

We are currently in the process of creating 10 en-suite bedrooms and yes, after listening to feedback from you all, we will be allowing your four legged friends to join you for the evening (now there’s no need to feel guilty when they flash you their ‘puppy’ eyes when you’re leaving for your break away!)

We are also hard at work developing our menu of home cooked classics with Cumbrian flair. It’s important to us that we help support Cumbrian producers, so we will be looking to ‘keep it local’ wherever possible!

We’d love to hear from you – what were you favourite classic dishes at The Queens Head? (Let us know at

Well, that’s enough typing for now, time to roll up our sleeves and get this pub ready for Spring 2017!

From everyone at The Queens Head, we want to wish you and your family a happy festive season. We hope to be able to reveal more in the coming weeks!

    Monday 7th November 2017

A wise man once wrote “good things come to those who wait”. That phrase is certainly true when it’s come to the Queens Head.

Since the devastating fire back in summer 2014, we’ve been working hard behind-the-scenes to get the pub open again. There have been tears, battles, red tape and more late nights than there are cups of coffee… but it’s all been worth it to get to this point.

You may have noticed an increase in activity around the pub recently. Robinsons’ property team and contractors have been working around the clock and we are proud to announce that we finally have a roof over our heads again!

There have been a lot of hurdles on this journey. The Queen’s Head is a Grade II listed building but thanks to a lot of hard work from Robinsons and the local council as well, we are well underway to reopening the doors.

We want to thank everyone who has shown their support to The Queens Head so far. It’s been a long road but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

We know there have been a lot of questions about when we will be reopening again. Whilst we can’t reveal the exact date yet we can confirm that next spring The Queens Head will, literally, rise from the ashes.
