Early survey maps show that the buildings existed during the civil war of 1640. The trend at the time was for farmers to turn their farmhouses into local inns during a bad season. They would make their own beers, cider and wines and sell them to local people.

In the 1800’s the inn was refurbished, the front of the building was stone cladded and probably a new bar was fitted by the brewery that took over at the time. It has been refurbished many times since, but still retains its character and charm including two open fires which are lit during the winter months.

Cyclists and walkers often use the car park as a start / finish point as we are close to Ashurst Beacon and Beacon Country Park. The 'Prince' has extensive outdoor seating and dining areas as well a children’s playground, two pool tables, a chess set and outdoor games (during summer). During the weekend Lauren and Abbi are available to take children to visit / pet and feed our two resident guinea pigs, Jack and Neil.

Our dining room is available, free of charge, for private functions and we also offer a buffet menu which is available to view.

Our newly refurbished pub only allows assistance dogs into the pub, however the roofed outside areas are great for our canine friends and we are happy to serve food and drink in these areas.

And finally, The Prince William boasts its own ghost known as “The lady in black” who appears in the early mornings and is seen to float through the bar areas. Pity she can’t / won’t do the cleaning!
