George and Katie Maynard are the fourth generation of their family to run this beautiful 17th century coaching inn which is situated in the picture postcard village of Ashford in the Water in the heart of the Peak District. Whether you arrive to sit by the open fire in winter or play boules in the garden when the sun shines, there will be a congenial welcome with real ales on tap from the award winning cellar and an ever changing menu to satisfy your appetite. Local and seasonal produce is a feature of the menu including the Steak and Unicorn Ale pie. George is proud of ensuring that the three cask ales that are always on offer are in tip-top condition and for the discerning wine drinker there is a great choice of on offer.
