The Grapes, one of the oldest pubs in the heart of Hazel Grove, which was purchased by Robinsons in June 1949, has reopened following an investment from Stockport based brewers Robinsons and licensee Susan White. The £200K refurbishment took 8-weeks to complete and has refreshed the pub both internally and externally, boasting a restored new look for the community.
Susan White, licensee at The Grapes, said: “The Grapes has been well received by old and new customers. The whole pub has been opened up so that consumers can enjoy our entertainment and be at the bar without being segregated to certain areas. We offer a large range of cask, keg and spirits, so we have something for everyone.”
The pub, which previously had two separate bars on either side of the premises, now shows off an open-plan layout with a brand-new central bar, which is visible from all parts of the pub. The solid oak bar displays a great range of award-winning cask ales and chilled lagers, alongside Veltins, German Pilsner and Moretti as a new brand. The draught range is further complemented by a significant spirit and wine selection, appealing to everyone’s wants and needs.
Tony Massey, Business Development Manager at Robinsons Brewery, commented: “The Grapes now offers a fresh renovated pub for the community of Hazel Grove and beyond, an area which is up-and-coming. The site was in need of a new lease of life, so we have modernised sections and features of the pub, yet retained its traditional and cosy feel, which customers have always appreciated.”
The new-look Grapes includes a remarkable new stage area for karaoke and live band performances for all to enjoy. Renowned for its entertainment, the pub now offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with a wide range of music, including bands on the first Saturday of every month. Although now mainly open plan, The Grapes has kept a separate room for those who want to revel in a classic game of pool, alongside a darts board which is in the main seating area.
Innovative deep-buttoned brown leather fixed and loose seating now decorates the pub, complemented by new timber planked wooden flooring which runs through the whole area. Eye-catching floral wallpaper adorns a selection of focal walls, partnered with a colour scheme of dark and light greens. New features also include a glistening gas stove, perfect for those colder evenings, alongside atmospheric mood lighting and feature wall pendants. This, together with LED lighting and antique mirrors around the bar, allow the pub to offer a perfect ambiance for daytime and evenings.
Externally, the pub has been renovated with brand new signage in line with Robinsons brand guidelines, and features new universal level access at the front of the pub together with a new accessible toilet inside. The beer garden has been decorated with stunning new wooden fencing and furniture for families and friends to take full advantage of, preparing for the coming Summer months.
