THE HARE AND HOUNDS CELEBRATE VE WEEKEND
The Hare and Hounds, Mill Brow, celebrated VE weekend in style with a series of live performances and a family fun day that transported attendees back 70 years.
The Marple Bridge pub kicked off the weekend in style with an encore-inducing performance from ‘The Vintage Vocalist’ playing a mixture of wartime and early 20th century classics that had locals dancing into the night.
The following day was highlighted by Eric Knussen ringing the church bell to start a 70 minute celebration peal; significant as Eric originally rang the bells at the same Mellor church when victory was declared back in 1945.
The weekend was rounded off with traditional street games, tug of wars, a delicious hog roast and cake stalls. Whilst 70 years may have passed, the community spirit of the country remains alive and well.
The Hare and Hounds, Mill Brow, Marple Bridge is open daily serving a rotating range of Robinsons cask ales along with a delicious al a carte menu.
