The pub, which was constructed in 1650 to serve the flourishing boat building industry, has received a sympathetic update that celebrates the pub’s rich heritage and tradition. The new design ties the George’s history with a look that feels rustic yet contemporary against the breathtaking backdrop of the Mawddach Estauary and the surrounding Welsh countryside.
Internally, the bar has been opened up to allow better footfall and access around the pub whilst a new dining area and breakfast area have sweeping views across the Estuary.
The pub’s popular snug and drinking area has been retained with a roaring fire that will provide the perfect place to escape the colder winter months with a pint of the pub’s very own ale – Springer Ale – which is available on the bar along with a great selection of award-winning cask ales, lagers, spirits, acclaimed handpicked wines and an extensive gin menu.
Downstairs, the popular bar area has also been refurbished allowing for easy access for drinkers in the warmer forthcoming summer months.
The George III also features 10 newly-refurbished guest bedrooms, 8 of which are dog-friendly, that are named after iconic lakes from around the area and were chosen from customer’s feedback on the George III Facebook page. The rooms take advantage of the building’s fabric with delightful features such as large bay windows and exposed original timber beams.
Externally, 4 lodge rooms, which once formed part of a waiting room, ticket office and station master’s house, are a perfect haven for walkers and bikers with panoramic views and easy access to multiple walking and biking trails across the county.
The pub’s new menu celebrates the changing of the seasons with quarterly menu changes to ensure that only the finest, seasonal produce is served along with several dishes made using local produce. The result is a menu which combines pub classics such as beer battered North Atlantic cod and triple cooked chips served alongside dishes such as Conwy valley Welsh lamb and a range of steaks from Websters of Conwy.

They have retained the unique character of the original pub and old station buildings.
