ROBINSONS and IRON MAIDEN have a special presence in the Isle of Man due to their continued sponsorship of Peter Hickman and the Smiths Racing Team for the 2018 TT. This is the 4th year that TROOPER has been a sponsor, but the focus of support for 2018 is not only on TROOPER but also on LIGHT BRIGADE; a brand-new sessionable golden ale created by IRON MAIDENvocalist and ale aficionado BRUCE DICKINSON and ROBINSONS’ Head Brewer, Martyn Weeks, in support of HELP FOR HEROES.
HELP FOR HEROES met with ROBINSONS in the summer of 2017 to explore the possibility of launching a beer. ROBINSONS and IRON MAIDEN, who jointly launched TROOPER beer 5 years ago, which has now sold over 20 million pints worldwide, were immediately enthusiastic about the idea. Indeed, the origin of TROOPER’s name, which comes from the classic IRON MAIDEN song, ‘The Trooper’, based on the Battle of Balaclava of 1854 in the Crimean War, reflects the band’s well-known interest in history.
For each bottle of LIGHT BRIGADE used in the BALLKELLY FARM pies 5p will be donated to HELP FOR HEROES. The money raised will help the thousands of Servicemen and women who live with complex wounds and injuries – both physical and mental – and are looking to regain their purpose in life.
The slow cooked Manx Steak combined with TROOPER LIGHT BRIGADE ale gives a harmonious marriage of decadent flavours.
Alan Teare, the Farmer, explained he is delighted to collaborate with ROBINSONS BREWERY:
“When the idea was first discussed to use our meat with the new LIGHT BRIGADE Ale to create a pie for the TT, we went on their website to read all about them. Although we are a tiny set up in comparison we put the same heart and soul into our meat as they do ale. So, we felt that the IOM TT created a perfect platform for the partnership; with ROBINSONS and IRON MAIDEN sponsoring Peter Hickman’s Supersport Bike. Bring on the TT and go Hickman!”
Ben Robinson, Director of Sales at Robinsons Brewery added:
“We’re delighted to partner with BALLAKELLY FARM. As 2 family companies, it’s not surprising that we share the same values and passion for quality. Not only does this collaboration allow us to grow our presence in the area, but it’s also a good opportunity to introduce drinkers to our new beer, LIGHT BRIGADE, and raise some money for HELP FOR HEROES in the process. Let’s face it, there’s a great natural crossover of customers, who doesn’t enjoy a pie and a pint! We look forward to working together with BALLAKELLY FARM and further generating awareness of ROBINSONS in the region.”
The pies are available online atwww.ballakelly.farm and will be on sale at theIsle of Man TTGrandstand in both practice and race week. TROOPER and LIGHT BRIGADE will also be served in many outlets including the Railway Inn Union Mills, the Sulby Glen and the Ginger Hall to name but a few.
