The Swan & Chequers is a modern town bar in the centre of the historic market town of Sandbach, located at the top of Hightown.
Swan & Chequers is a popular town centre bar. The bar features a large enclosed courtyard to enjoy a pint al fresco. Indoors you can enjoy the open plan bar whilst has taken design inspiration from London’s Metropolitan underground line. From enjoying a quiet pint of real ale in the corner or a fresh morning coffee to cocktails on a night out, Swan and Chequers takes you from morning ’til evening. Swan and Chequers has plenty of history about the place too, with Winston Churchill having addressed the town from the balcony once upon a time.

Breakfast with santa
Santa is joining us this December! Join us for Breakfast with Santa on selected dates throughout December. Tickets include a delicious breakfast and drink, festive table activities, a visit from Santa himself, and a special gift for every child. Tickets are £16 per child, and pre-booking is essential. Cocktails at the Swan & Chequers
Enjoy the vibrant flavours of our handcrafted cocktails, featuring locally inspired shrubs that trace their roots back to a humble stall in New Mills. At the Swan & Chequers, we take pride in using these artisanal shrubs, which blend fresh fruits, herbs, and vinegars to create a delightful balance of sweet and tangy notes. Visit our beer garden
Our beer garden is the most unique beer garden in Sandbach. It has a huge mural of Winston Churchill and some brilliant colourful Swan-themed wall art. With seating for around 100 people, it is a large sun-trap with a snug feeling due to it’s walled-kitchen-garden-like nature. There is also a wonderful roofed area for if the weather turns a little rainy. With plenty of space and a ramp to access the pub, it is suitable for prams, kids scooters, wheelchairs and dogs. The super friendly pub dog is Turbo, and he loves be on meet and greet in the sunshine.

Live music & open mic night
Here at the Swan and Chequers, we have regular live music, including Jazz Jam by Rob Cope a local Soprano sax player on the 1st Tuesday of every month.
